The North Branch Municipal Power & Light has generated electricity with a fossil fuel generators for up to 1,000 customers since 1941. In 1995, the Commission began purchasing electricity for its 1,120 customers from the Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency while also retaining local generation for emergency purposes. North Branch Municipal Water and Light also provides water service to the City. It is governed by a five-member Utility Commission. The Commission meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 4:30p.m. for their Regular Meeting and Worksession meeting on the 1st Thursday of each month at 4:30pm at the City Of North Branch Council Chambers.
