The North Branch Municipal Power & Light has generated electricity with a fossil fuel generator for up to 1,000 customers since 1941. In 1995 the Commission began purchasing electricity for its 1120 customers from the Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency. North Branch Municipal Water and Light also provides water service to the City. It is governed by a three-member Utility Commission. The Commission meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 3:30 p.m. at the Water and Light Department.
